Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)
Already as a young girl I was allowed to accompany my godmother to fashion shows in Paris and Milan in the 1970s. This is the first time experienced design. At the beginning of my career, I worked for renowned designers in Germany and co-designer couture and haute couture fashion.
I believe that through my work at KA International I found my way into interior design. Together with Maison Decor, I opened my first shop in Düsseldorf in 1997 to offer complete interior design services allowing me to explore my personal passion for fabrics. In doing so, I have always maintained a special contact with Belgian suppliers for antique building
materials and have myself lived in Flanders for several years. To meet the growing demand for my services, I established my own company in 2005 and have since been known for high-quality interior design and exclusive interior decoration.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
The recipe for all my projects includes natural building elements, such as natural stone and wood. With high-quality furniture, balanced lighting and sufficient fabric in the form of window decorations, covers and cushions to set stylish accents and improve the spatial acoustics. Typical elements of my work are a fusion of antiques and antique building materials. My approach to the design is always focused on the purpose of the project in order to make modern living possible.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
I get most of my inspiration during long walks in nature, whether through the woods, in the fields or by the sea. Nature never ceases to amaze with its colour palette.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
At the moment, design is moving in many directions and with the growth of new technologies and a multicultural society, there is not one specific design guideline. The blend of different designs, colors and forms from different cultural backgrounds, more and more possibilities are emerging.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?
Don’t skimp on fabric

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards as recognition of talent and achievement?
These awards are extremely important and helpful for more bespoke designers who do not have an advertising budget, to expand awareness with their skills alone.
What projects are you currently working on?
We are currently designing a private villa in the Belgian seaside resort of De Haan. We are also currently working on a city flat in Düsseldorf and overseeing the renovation of a ski chalet in Switzerland.
What was your favourite project to work on and why?
Every project is our favourite. My team and I are not restricted by finding our favourite design, but the one that best suits our client and their project. We pride ourselves on building good relationships with your clients, which makes every project exciting to work on and favorable.
What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
My own home. It’s never finished and can always be improved.
Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
My mobile phone for photos, my folding rule for measuring and my pen and notepad to always write everything down immediately.
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Building up my Social Media accounts.
