Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)

25 years of design from coastal lodges to unique custom homes. University of Oregon grad

How would you describe your personal interior design style?

Simplicity with a Pacific Northwest timelessness

Where does your design inspiration come from?

The site and the client and many mid-century architects including neutral and Schindler.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

Comfortable placemaking that uses natural materials and feels timeless

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.

The site and the clients desires are key items, along with creating something that fits into nature, expresses the structure and blurring the line between indoors and outdoors.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to interior design schemes, what would it be?

Search for timelessness and simplicity

What projects are you currently working on?

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

Headlands Resort. The lodge is great addition to Pacific City. The blend of elegance and ruggedness was well achieved and we are very proud.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

Headlands Resort. The narrow bench of land at the base of a dune and adjacent to the ocean created a puzzle on how to get a hotel and spa to fit naturally.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

My pencil

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

Create more timeless buildings that make people happy to enjoy
