YOD Group have been shortlisted for Hotel Under 50 Rooms – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.

YOD Group embarked on a transformative journey to create a modern and comfortable space for a five-star hotel nestled in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. With a vision to showcase Ukrainian old culture and the wild Carpathian nature, YOD Group embraced the concept of humility and minimalism, delving deep into the essence of Ukrainian traditional crafts.

YOD Group collaborated with prominent Ukrainian product designers who meticulously researched local crafts and symbols, rethinking and reinventing them. This collaboration resulted in a myriad of unique, custom-made objects adorning the hotel, such as suites featuring tables made of old iron-cust technology, forged coat hooks, and textiles adorned with rethought symbols of Ukrainian traditional embroidery. 

YOD Group’s architectural prowess seamlessly integrated the hotel building into the natural surroundings, refraining from competing with the magnificent Carpathian landscape. The minimalistic architecture offers a 360-degree view of the breath-taking mountains. 

Inspired by the wider environment and the botanical diversity of the region, YOD Group curated the hotel’s essence with reverence for nature’s beauty. The botanical atlas of 88 local herbs served as the foundation for the hotel’s restaurants, aptly named 88 Vinotheque and 88 Daily Local. Additionally, the name of the hotel itself, “Hay,” pays homage to the fragrant hay formed from the sun-kissed meadows, and this central theme echoes throughout the design.

YOD Group’s vision crystallized into a testament of contemporary Ukrainian design, driven by a deep sense of responsibility to preserve and promote Ukrainian culture during challenging times. The hotel not only exemplifies the beauty of the Carpathian landscape but also serves as a symbol of resilience and a celebration of Ukrainian identity, where tradition and modernity intertwine in harmonious unity.
