Yodezeen
Yodezeen have been shortlisted for Bar Club Lounge Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.
Situated in the historical center of Kharkiv, a remarkable space characterized by towering five-meter walls and grand floor-to-ceiling windows has been meticulously transformed by the adept designers of Yodezeen into an authentic and captivating traditional Japanese bar known as an izakaya. Within this vibrant establishment, individuals can unwind after a day’s work, savoring a selection of wines while relishing in the delight of delectable snacks prepared before their very eyes in the open kitchen.
Marking their third endeavor under the same name, the designers at Yodezeen faced the challenge of infusing this space with a distinctive essence. While the overall style was intended to evoke a sense of familiarity with izakayas found in other Ukrainian cities, the philosophy behind this establishment demanded an exclusive touch. Drawing inspiration from the traditional architecture of Japanese courtyards, with their carefully composed structures and inhabitants, the design concept took shape.
Yodezeen employed raw and rugged materials, such as unfinished wood and concrete, to instill a robust character into the interior. Metal accents, including light fixtures and crimson netting adorning the balcony on the second level, added a touch of industrial allure. The windows were elegantly cloaked with weathered wooden shutters, their design reminiscent of traditional Japanese screens, seamlessly continuing the artistic narrative presented on the expansive five-meter walls. Minimalistic lighting fixtures were strategically suspended along the perimeter above the tables, their illumination accentuating the artistry of the exquisite dishes and cocktails.
Through their masterful amalgamation of materials, artistic vision, and attention to detail, Yodezeen succeeded in crafting a truly captivating izakaya interior. The Virgin Izakaya Bar in Kharkiv stands as a testament to their skillful ability to transport guests to the heart of Japanese culture, while offering a unique and extraordinary experience.
