At design et al, we publish annual design books for all sectors of the global design industry, from hotel design to residential schemes, Superyacht and aviation design , each area is covered our magazine titles, design et al , Luxe et al and Hotel et al. As our readers are subscription based for the most part however and many are design professionals and their clients, we need to offer a little more over a 12 month period. So, we also publish 7 annual iconic design books , in a hard back format: The World’s Most Glamourous Homes, Transcending Luxury, The Design Elite, Style Bible- a book of forecasts & predictions, The Superyacht & Aviation Edit, The Platinum Issue and The World’s Leading Design Names.

All space and inclusions are strictly by invitation or application only. This has been our policy since the launch of design et al in 2006.

Editorial & PR Support & Investment

Bringing the design world together is important to us and The Awards are the perfect vehicle to do just this. Each year we invest in PR/editorial and marketing campaigns for each shortlisted designer and architect. Collectively this equates to editorial/PR to the value of £4 million.

All shortlisted companies have the benefit of an Awards Co Ordinator and Publishing Manager who oversee this service.

Aims of The Awards

At design et al we aim to support the design industry, we are here to work as publishers for the industry, our aim is to drive design forward, not merely to report. Our reach, style and interpretative is as broad and diverse as the design world itself. Together we break boundaries in terms of design from an aesthetic, technological and architectural perspective.

However, we are more than just publishers, we firmly believe in supporting and promoting creative talent and so each year we invest in editorial and PR to the value of over £4 million, to support the designers and architects who are shortlisted in The International Design & Architecture Awards, The International Hotel & Property Awards and The International Yacht & Aviation Awards. In 2023 we have extended this support further creating The design et al Elite Awards.

The Voting Process

The voting process is totally unique to us here at design et al. For the past 14 years we have invited readers and industry professionals to vote online over a 4 week period for the favourite schemes. The process is thorough, fair, objective and we think the best PR you will get this year.

Over a 4 week period there are usually over 80,000 completed and verified votes. This is engagement on a level rarely seen in the industry.

Voting opens in August and will close on 6 September 2023. The votes will be verified and counted, and the winners will be announced at The Awards Ceremony on Friday 8 September. Due to the verification process, we do not know winners until Friday 8th and never notify winners in advance.

Our awards team will provide you with promotional materials to use across your website and social media, along with the relevant voting link.

Voters are required to vote in all categories, so they cannot simply vote for you and leave; this ensures that it can take a considerable amount of time to complete voting.

The Awards Ceremony

This is without doubt one of the most prestigious events in the design calender and 2023 will be the largest to date, with designers and their clients flying into London from all corners of the world to celebrate their work. It is a formal occasion but also an annual celebration, that unites us all as a global community.

The format for the evening is:
7.30 pm pre dinner drinks
Followed by a 3 course dinner with wines and coffee.
The Awards Ceremony
After party from 12.30 am
Dress code – strictly black tie/evening dress

The Guest List

We operate a strict guest list policy and only shortlisted companies and endorsed companies may apply for tickets.

For the most part guests are Managing Directors, CEO’s and Owners of shortlisted companies and their guests. This is an annual highlight in the design world, a great place to network, meet friends and colleagues and really see what your competitors are doing. It is a chance to take inspiration from the creative world in which we live, work and thrive.

On rare occasions companies may need to send representatives to The Awards Ceremony and this is permitted in exceptional circumstances. However, we would advise against any designers sending Junior PR agency staff as representatives. In previous years this has not always reflected well on the designers themselves. This is especially true when Junior PR agency staff accept Awards on behalf of design companies. We therefore ask the representation is at the appropriate level.

VIP Tables & Additional Tickets

You will have 2 guest tickets for The Awards Ceremony as a shortlisted company. Many companies however bring additional guests, clients, friends or colleagues . Tables are available for 8, 10 or 12 guests.

VIP premier tables have the best locations in the room and are open to applications in three phases. Please look out for phases opening, they open for just a short period and tables are allocated quickly. Tickets are charged at the same rate of £350 per guest.

VVIP/Celebrity Guest Clients

For some years designers have asked if they are able to bring their celebrity clients and in previous years, we did not have a formal policy for this. For 2023 we have introduced this, and we are now able to accommodate your celebrity guests, who may require additional security, will not be required to queue, have direct access to the red carpet on arrival and a private VVIP reception drinks area. The Accolade Awards

The Accolade Awards are the final section of Awards for the evening. They are a group of Awards made up of elite categories, The Global Project Award and The Designer of The Year Award. They are considered collectively to be the high point of the evening.

THE DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2023: The final Award of the evening is awarded to the designer chosen by design et al to be the Designer of The Year. Finalist are notified pre voting and are able to promote the fact that they have been selected . This Award is presented by the design et al team.

THE GLOBAL PROJECT AWARD 2023: We very much believe in the spirit of collaboration and this Award aims to celebrate and reward this. Every shortlisted project will be considered for this Award and the winning project will see the designer, the companies they have endorsed and associated companies come together to each receive an Award . The aim is to recognise and reward each part of the process involved to create such incredible completed projects.
